MICHAEL BANE

27 April - 6 July 2012
Overview

Michael Bane is a local artist in Fort Worth, TX. His opening reception is Friday, April 27th from 5:30-8:30 pm at Artspace111. Michael Bane uses painstaking techniques in order to create a trompe l’oeil effect for the viewer. Arts Editor and biographer Suzanne Deats states, “Bane’s work is a serious investigation into the nature of what one believes one is seeing, versus what is actually there. The conundrum lies not in discerning which is genuine and which is an illusion, but in discovering that both the subject and its image are real. Bane creates illusions within illusions.”

His work evokes a melancholy feeling, longing for perfection in everyday life. By rendering everything in this skillful photorealistic style, he plays with the dichotomy of what is real and what is fantasy. His work portrays a dreamlike quality, and it is easy for any audience to get lost and entranced in his work. His pieces will be on display at Artspace111. This will be a rare experience to see Michael Bane in a solo exhibition.
