Temporal Integral Mural Exhibition : Open Call for Artists
Open Call for Texas Artists
Sundance Square and Artspace111 Consulting are seeking artists or artist teams to participate in a new and innovative mural project in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. Eligible artists will be based in Texas. Artists of all experience and skill levels are encouraged to apply. For this project, Sundance Square and Artspace111 Consulting are seeking at least 6 artists to complete murals during the second round of the T.I.M.E Mural Project in 2021-2022.
This mural project encourages collaboration between mural artists, experimentation, and seeks unique artistic vision. As the murals begin to evolve and connect to each other, each mural will become part of a larger whole. The scope of the entire project covers 2 warehouse buildings, with each artist being assigned a mural section, each selected mural surface varies slightly in size. Mural designs are not required to incorporate the entire surface of the designated space. Selected artists are encouraged to consider the murals that come prior to and after their work in sequence – the goal of this project is to encourage artist collaboration.
The T.I.M.E. project will constantly be evolving, and murals may be partially or completely painted over at some point in the future. All works must be envisioned as temporary and will be visible for at least 6 months. Each artist will be given 1 month to complete their mural.
Each selected artist will receive payment of $2000 total to execute their mural (includes mural design mock-up, supplies, and artist fee for mural completion). Selected artists will be paid ½ of the artist payment upon signing an artist agreement, and the remaining ½ upon completion of their portion of the project.
A small lift will be available, but use will need to be coordinated with Artspace111. Electricity and security will be provided on-site. Bathroom and cleanup station available in Sundance Square.
Artists selected to complete a mural who need to travel more than 30 miles to work on their mural will have access to free lodging in Fort Worth. Lodging will be available for up to one month. Lodging for qualifying artists provided by Sundance Square.
To Apply:
Sundance Square and Artspace111 will hold a rolling open call for artist portfolios through CAFE. It is free to apply.
The second round of the open call is November 2, 2021 - January 5, 2022. All entries during the second round will be considered for six mural locations of the T.I.M.E project. Sundance Square will make the final artist selections for each round.
The deadline to be considered for the second round is Wednesday, January 5, 2022. (Artists who applied to the first round of the call do not need to reapply to be considered for the second round - they are automatically considered.)
At the time of application, artists are not required to submit mural designs for review. Once artists are selected, mural applicants will be required to submit a design. Final designs must be approved by Sundance Square prior to an artist beginning work on their mural.
