My process begins by photographing everyday objects found within my home. Having a pool of images to select from, I construct my images digitally using multiple photographs. Creating my compositions within the computer, these images exist in a space between fiction and document. The objects I photograph are familiar and mundane. At first glance, the sculptures almost feel as if they could exist. But with a fixed gaze, the artificial nature of the images replaces the familiarity found among the objects with an uncanny. These sculptures are digitally constructed, but not entirely. I make only select amendments to each image. There are components of each of these images that physically existed and others that are a product of digital manipulation. I am interested in an image’s ability to construct perceptual reality; specifically the perception of sculptural form within a photographic space.
