Artist Statement Mike Tabor I would described my paintings as American Western Expressionism. It has been described by others as “postmodern western.” Either way my decision to take my favorite Genre in a new direction has been what drives my ambition. Western Art has been the nucleus for an endeavor that allows me the freedom to explore concepts, techniques and design elements. I find myself always trying to find ways to experience processes that challenge the end result. Sculpting has allowed me another avenue of expression. The life size bronzes I have done have exposed me to another chapter. Public art. Public art is a great way to merge the feeling of a space to an artistic representation. I can think of no better way to create a visual statement. The challenge becomes not only the art but the way the art occupies its surroundings and the visceral feeling it brings to the viewers.
