A veil, a tapestry and fabric are all used to refer the makeup of our perceivable reality. There is a gesture implied here that converges on discipline and repose, the zen of repetition, focus leading to clarity. I have chosen to use the pattern in my work to convey these ideas. I find the pattern to be a visual equivalent of the audio drone. It bookends one concept and repeats it. Driving home the understanding of the select image (or idea) while simultaneously creating new figurative expressions, things to follow, connections to make. I think that Warhol utilized the pattern throughout his career as a means of expressing the same thing a monk would do repeating a mantra, build, repeat, build repeat, the rest will follow. While my visual language as an artist is playful, I feel it grounds itself in the ubiquity of symbolism. I find joy in taking embedded ideas in the collective conscious and altering the meaning for their use. The character represented here is Tex Zen, a soulful broth
