Face It: Leslie Lanzotti
The newly renovated gallery, Artsapce111, opens the fall art season with the work of Leslie Lanzotti’s Face It.
Face It will make its debut at Fall Gallery Night, Saturday, September 8, 2007. The gallery will remain open 2 – 9 pm and welcomes the public.
The tight frames of Leslie’s subject matter invites the viewer to feel an emotional connect in the eyes of the individual. Lanzotti’s oversized portraits include the likes of Kinky Freidman, HRM King Alfred Diete-Spiff and Prince Emmanuel Alfred Diete-Spiff of Nigeria, among other friends and family.
In response to her work Lanzotti says, “I do not think of my paintings necessarily as portraits, but as landscapes of the face. Each face reflects an inner duality of the soul as well as a roadmap of the person’s life. I believe I am drawn to the human face because in painting it, I feel it helps me to have a greater understanding of the human condition and self acceptance.”
The opening of Face It marks a new era for Artspace111. Since its inception in 1980, Artspace111 has evolved into a dynamic contemporary art gallery located on the outskirts of downtown Fort Worth.
Thanks to Trenton Laird, owner of The Construction Group and the creative genius of architect Norman D. Ward and associate Ernest Curry, Artspace111 has recently been transformed. In keeping with the original 1900s architecture, the exposed brick walls and steel fire doors of the former furniture warehouse were left in their original form, all the while creating functional artist studios, gallery space, outdoor sculpture garden and offices.
In celebration of the transformation and grand opening, Artspace111 invites guests to a reception beginning at 6 pm during Fall Gallery Night. Enjoy the sounds of DJdeluxe.com, food by City Kitchen, beer and wine by Ben E Keith, water by Acqua
Panna / San Pellegrino, and valet parking by Rent-A-Frog Valet.
Artspace111 is dedicated to its vital role in the city of Fort Worth, and to making contemporary art approachable to individuals of all ages. With its sculpture garden and its distinctive architectural character, the gallery offers a striking setting to host corporate and private events, and is also available for tours and other social gatherings.
Artspace111 is located east of Downtown Dallas at Hampton Street and Weatherford. The gallery is open by appointment only.
