Ahab's Dream, Winter Rusiloski

Ahab's Dream, Winter Rusiloski, Oil on canvas, 48 x 72"

Rusiloski's artistic influence derives from time spent exploring the rural countryside and coastline of the Northeastern United States. The natural landscape inspired acute attention to the intersection between the earth and the sky. Many of her pieces posses a dynamic relationship between definite yet fluid lines and large bodies of space that are grounded by intermittent use of photography. Evident in the title, Rusiloski's current works are often tempestuous and grand, but seem to transcend the initial notes of chaos into paintings that are serene and sublime.

Winter Rusiloski was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She earned an MFA in painting at Texas Christian University in 2004 and a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with dual majors in Studio Art - Painting and Related Art - Dance in 2002.  Rusiloski has studied internationally at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Art in Budapest, Hungary and in Cortona, Italy

With the University of Georgia. Rusiloski is represented by Cohn Drennan Contemporary Gallery in Dallas and Artspace111 Gallery in Fort Worth.  She has exhibited nationally with highlights including the Texas Biennial with juror Michael Duncan, three time Hunting Art Prize Finalist, Art in the Metroplex - Fort Worth Art Dealers Association Award by Juror Sarah Jayne Parsons, Texas Paint Part 2 - Out of Abstraction, a survey of abstract art in Texas at the Arlington Museum of Art - curated by Anne Allen and the Texas Oklahoma Art Prize at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art.
