Artspace111 is proud to announce the solo exhibition Rambler by artist Daniel Blagg. The exhibition will open Saturday, March 19, 2016 with a reception from 12:00pm to 9:00pm, on Fort Worth Art Dealers Association (FWADA) Spring Gallery Night, and will run through May 7, 2016.  Art historian and curator, E. Luanne McKinnon, writes in her essay, Time Suspended, “Daniel Blagg’s tour de force paintings - belonging to the rich milieu of a genre I think of as locale - are no less iconic than other quintessential American locales framed by Edward Hopper, Walker Evans, Georgia O’Keefe, and William Eggleston…” Daniel Blagg, a native of Texas, is constantly influenced by the surroundings of his studio warehouse, Artspace111, located on the outskirts of downtown Fort Worth. Blagg’s urban realist paintings depict abandoned buildings, decaying gas stations and empty streets. Drawn to these neglected areas that are in a state of limbo, his perspective elevates and reflects elements of Americanism both ordinary and sublime.

 

Says the artist of his work: “As an artist, I think that I don’t know all the motives that draw me to a subject. It is both simple and complex, and I prefer to leave it a mystery. I can only say that even though I paint in a realistic way, I try to avoid formula and style. What I hope comes out in the end is the raw signature of emotional observation.”

The Fort Worth Art Dealers Association promotes “clearly defined cooperation between the museums, the university art galleries, the non-profit exhibition spaces, and the art dealers, all of which are full working members of FWADA. To fulfill its stated mission to stimulate interest in the visual arts through educational programs, art scholarships, and art competitions, FWADA organizes, funds, and hosts exhibitions of noteworthy art. It sponsors the Fall Gallery Night for members and friends, as well as Spring Gallery Night.”
