Desertscapes: Kristin Kirkley
Kristin Kirkley’s large color photographs balance minimalism and detail. Desertscapes is a series of images exploring West Texas, the Southwest, and the roads between. Using a documentary approach to landscape photography, the artist underlines an interconnected narrative. Her observations of light, color, and composition transform mundane scenes into captivating subjects. The imagery draws upon geologic symmetries, architectural oddities, and topographical elements. The result captures the allure in remoteness of this vast and arid region.
The exhibition opens on May 9th, with an opening reception from 5 – 8pm, and will remain on display until June 15, 2019.
