Looking for positive beauty in the everyday, sacred ordinary... for the heart to believe in the future and not be broken or full of fear... I looked to the birds, free and unaffected by "the virus" still singing, still building their nest...still living! I carved this piece for my mom specifically who loves watching birds out her window...Mom is secluded in this shelter in place; we drop off groceries and visit her in her garage, from a distance. I want to hug my mom and not make her sick! So this is a hug and a hope for us all to be "free as a bird" one day soon. Free to hug the ones we love, free to walk by and simply say hello to a stranger and for our smiles to be seen.
