Influenced by tribal art, science fiction notions, and dreams, my work explores the almost known and the faint recollections of daily life here and on other worlds. I'm excited by the overlooked, the refuse of society, and the aesthetic of the found. Steel is the most widely used and most recycled material on the planet. Steel is resilient yet vulnerable. We leave our mark; it is erased, enhanced, or brought to our attention again — either to use as new raw material or to appreciate in its discovered state. Direct metal sculpture best describes my process, where the sculptor's hands and tools are in direct contact with the object being made. Forging, assemblage, arc welding, and patination are the processes that dominate my sculpture practice.
