As a multilingual individual, language allows me to switch between different cultures and ways of seeing. I hear language for its meaning as much as I see it as its form. Hence the visual representation of language is of main interest in my artistic practice. I am fascinated by the visual system that ingeniously serves as an in-between code of the sending and receiving written information.
Individual letters repeated and composed as lines in a written text, constitute a controlled system of producing meaningful visual language. Deviating from a utilitarian communication system, my work expresses a divergent materiality: signs and symbols, ambiguously depicted and at times dissonant and opaque, are embedded in a rich texture environment.
In the work, the act of drawing language notations and references revolve around the fluidity of language in constant flux. The pieces include visual forms alluding to letter contours that are recomposed into an interwoven landscape of something new.
