Swamp Rising
The Climate Crisis is very real in our day-to-day living here in New Orleans, Louisiana. We watch our streets flood during heavy rains; our wetlands sinking from oil companies bad practices, pipeline spills go undetected or under reported, and our oceans slowly rising. Each spill, each crack in a pipe, each rupture of Mother Earth’s surface is a wound in need of healing. It is upon us to do that healing.
Artistic expression that brings about social and/or political change is what propels my image making. The work created for Swamp Rising, creates ecological intentions for more equitable and sustainable living.
As the water rises,
Who will be left?
Who will be cared for?
As the water rises
Seeping through the grass,
Up to my toes
As the waters rise,
Dreaming of higher ground
