Often when I am working from photos, my attempt at drawing *exactly* like the photo is not important. I take full license to create my own piece of art. I do lean towards realism... but not hyper-realism. I like my drawings show a human side, the little scribbles, the uneven shading... this is all part of what separates my work from a photograph.
My style has developed from that. This has become more important to me as I mature as an artist. The majority of my work is portraiture, including human form, as well as vintage automobiles, aircraft, and machinery. I am often at a local car show drawing old cars. I love an audience when I draw.
I love working with color pencils. My background in oil painting and color theory brought me to this wonderful medium. I want to show the versatility and simplicity of working in pencils.
