As an amateur mycologist I began my art journey using the vibrancy and transparency of watercolor to capture the evanescent beauty of mushrooms. This interest was expanded to flowers, and to quote Frida Khalo - “ I paint flowers so they will not die.” During my travels I discovered that watercolor sketches evoke and memorialized the moment far better than a photograph - the light, the aromas, the intense sense of place. The paintings have became a chronology of personal experiences.
