WAXING: JANET CHAFFEE

4 December 2015 - 30 January 2016
Overview

Artspace111 is proud to announce the solo exhibition Waxing by artist Janet Chaffee. The exhibition will open Friday, December 4, 2015 with a reception from 5:00pm to 8:30pm, and will run through January 30, 2016. Intuition drives both the process and the purpose of Chaffee’s work. The artist uses a variety of mediums to develop paintings and drawings that capture the movement of time. Finding as much inspiration in the materials themselves, which include graphite, beeswax, and dry pigments, as she does in antique lace procured from around the world and in organic cell-like structures developed through her artistic process, Janet Chaffee’s art emits a sense of nostalgia and progression in delicate yet powerful ways.
