I began drawing, and painting in watercolor, during the second half of my life. I learned drawing and color theory from Janis Bryant of Fort Worth, from whom I received over 700 hours of private instruction. I now paint primarily in fluid acrylics, mixing all of my own colors from the five primaries of the environmentally safe Lascaux Sirius color system. I incorporate a love of color and geometric line into my work. Since 2016 I have been drawn to paint the colors and lines of our local, state, and national parks. My hope is to evoke from the viewer an urgency to see our public lands, a tangible love of the landscape, and an awareness of the potential for spiritual experiences in these magnificent and fragile places.
