I enjoy putting monsters and animals in humorously surreal situations. This is partially because I enjoy the inherent humor in making something abnormal. I view monsters and animals as the ultimate "others" or things people have trouble relating to because they are different from themselves. As someone who has often felt like an “other,” it is important to me that these creatures are properly represented in both art and society in a reverent way.
Many of my artworks feature tangled up dogs as a motif, which I dub “Dog Spaghetti.” As someone who often deals with anxiety, my emotions can sometimes feel like a tangled-up web. Taking that web and turning it into puppies makes the web seem much more friendly.
