This series of neon sign paintings documents Covid-19 through various symbols that we have seen during these times. As the world and its economy opens back up and we attempt to return to our “normal” life, it is important to record these events and remember that what we went through was real.
These simple symbols show changes to our routine in an universal way. From everything being open to being closed, we all had to wash our hands, we had to cover our mouths, and how this virus was named after a beer, which everyone then avoided buying.
This series is simple, direct and straight to the point. These paintings do not have any deeper meaning below it’s surface. The only purpose they serve is to remember this surreal time in our history.
