My work reflects concerns about mankind and its collective spiritual and physical survival. As we barrel through the 21st century, what will become of us? I choose to address this question with a fragile optimism, which is the cornerstone of my work. And, just as our lives are pieced together from a multitude of experiences, my work, with the use of various layering techniques exemplifies a “whole” that is constructed of many steps and parts. In my work, symbolic elements provide the link. Botanical foliage, flowering cacti, birds, flowers, quilt patterns, and the use of various layering techniques and media refer to the numerous facets and experiences of our lives that we weave and cobble together from our very first breath, eventually making us who we are at this very moment—complete, but still changing and growing.
It is my desire that these works convey a message of beauty, optimism and hope for our collective spiritual and humanitarian growth and evolution.
