I often find my existence seems riddled with a sense of triviality that brings forth a fear that every aspect of my life is on the brink of disappearance. As an artist, this unnerving feeling drives me to develop and amass archives that reflect upon the mundanity of my life.
Part of a larger archive of objects, the items gathered and photographed for Boredom: Things I Decided to Collect During COVID19 reflect upon my own sense of mortality as it is revealed by the archeology I leave behind through my daily actions. In the work, I juxtapose organic things in their natural stage of decomposition with items that I utilize and discard each day. In doing so, I aim at questioning the amount of waste that I produce and will be left behind way after this whole pandemic is done.
