For the longest, cartoons and anime, manga and comics have supplied elements that I employ in design. Strong black outlines denote specificity for shapes. Whimsy and unlikelihood open an observer's mind to possibilities. Small yet plentiful details align to add richness and intrigue to fictitious worlds.
Graffiti art captured my attention in much the same way and for similar reasons. There is an emphasis on originality, while keeping pieces ‘true to form’ and an added element of rebellion and craftiness that makes it a sort of sport. Maximum “style” is achieved through this pursuit. Of graffiti, I am an experienced practitioner and genuine fan.
Finally, in the realm of fine art, we find the beloved ‘abstract’. A type of work that requires and can accommodate little to no explanation. It seems to reject basis and refuses categorization in an aloof and pompous manner: I adore this quality.
My works should be whimsical and rich, packed with energetic ‘style’, and stuck up!
