FLASHBACK: JOHN HARTLEY

9 November - 10 December 2007
Overview

Artspace111 opens its new doors with John Hartley: Flashback. This marks the first solo show for Hartley in the newly renovated Artpsace111.

Hartley’s nostalgic paintings encompass his life long passions of making art and collecting. Dating back to his roots in Ohio, Hartley has always had an admiration for toy collecting, among other interests. Hartley’s work seems to capture a profound moment in time, as seen in his paintings of antique toy soldiers and burning flames atop matchsticks.

While Hartley is primarily known for his life-like paintings of antique figurines, he is also well versed in printmaking and sculpting. Hartley remains involved in the Fort Worth art community, as owner of Gallery 414. He continues to encourage young minds to develop a creative outlet through art as Assistant Professor at University of Texas, Arlington,

An artist reception honoring Hartley will take place Friday, November 9, 6 – 9 pm. Join us for lite bites, beer and wine by Ben E Keith, and water by Acqua Panna / San Pellegrino. The reception is free and open to the public.

In addition to its new look, Artspace111 welcomes two new faces. Margery Grella came on board as Gallery Coordinator, working closely with founders Daniel and Dennis Blagg to make Artspace111 the premiere art gallery in Fort Worth. While continuing to show the work of artists represented by Artspace111, Grella invites emerging artists to showcase their talent. With the recent transformation, Artspace111 has also become an alternative space to host events. Events Coordinator, Taylor McDaniel, anticipates a full events calendar in the coming year, working with local event planners to host events of all kinds, including weddings, receptions, corporate gatherings, cocktail parties, and charity events.

Artspace111 is dedicated to its vital role in the city of Fort Worth, and to making contemporary art approachable to individuals of all ages. With its sculpture garden and its distinctive architectural character, the gallery offers a striking setting to host corporate and private events, and is also available for tours and other social gatherings.

Artspace111 is located east of Downtown Fort Worth at Hampton Street and Weatherford. The gallery is open by appointment only. To schedule a private viewing, contact Margery Grella by calling 817.692.3228 or emailing art@artspace111.com.
